God's Unfailing Grace and Peace

On this Christmas celebration, we gather to worship the Lord and receive His Word with thanksgiving. The promise that anchors our faith comes from Isaiah 54:10:

"For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has mercy on you." — Isaiah 54:10 (NKJV)

The Lord has placed two permanent gifts upon each of us: His grace (கிருபை) and His covenant of peace (சமாதான உடன்படிக்கை). While worldly mountains and hills may change, these spiritual blessings remain constant. Yet God desires that we actively cultivate and increase these gifts in our lives.

Growing in Grace Through Corporate Worship (கூட்டு ஆராதனையின் மூலம் கிருபையில் வளர்தல்)

The apostle Paul reveals a powerful principle for experiencing increased grace:

"For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God." — 2 Corinthians 4:15 (NKJV)

Grace multiplies through the thanksgiving of many people gathered together. When students apply this principle to their studies, workers to their professions, ministers to their service, and families to their homes, remarkable transformations occur. The collective praise and worship of believers creates an atmosphere where God's grace flourishes abundantly.

The Result of Multiplied Grace (பெருகிய கிருபையின் பலன்)

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day." — 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV)

As grace increases through corporate worship, believers experience daily renewal. The inner person is strengthened while external circumstances may remain challenging. This creates resilience and prevents spiritual discouragement.

The Path of Humble Prayer (தாழ்மையான ஜெபத்தின் பாதை)

Christ taught about two different approaches to prayer through a parable in Luke 18. Two men went to the temple to pray - a Pharisee and a tax collector.

The Pharisee's Self-Righteous Prayer (பரிசேயனின் சுயநீதியான ஜெபம்)

"The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'" — Luke 18:11-12 (NKJV)

This prayer, though containing thanksgiving and good deeds, was centered on self-comparison and pride. It did not receive God's approval.

The Tax Collector's Humble Plea (வரி வசூலிப்பவனின் தாழ்மையான விண்ணப்பம்)

"And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'" — Luke 18:13 (NKJV)

Christ declared that this man went home justified rather than the other. The prayer "God, be merciful to me a sinner" (தேவனே, பாவியாகிய என்மேல் கிருபையாயிரும்) represents the attitude that opens heaven's storehouses of grace.

"For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." — Luke 18:14b (NKJV)

The apostle Paul provides a powerful example of receiving grace through accepting God's unexpected response to prayer. He prayed three times for the removal of a thorn in his flesh:

"And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me." — 2 Corinthians 12:7-8 (NKJV)

God's Sufficient Response (கடவுளின் போதுமான பதில்)

Instead of removing the thorn, God gave Paul a different but superior answer:

"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." — 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)

Paul's joy transformation came not from receiving what he asked for, but from accepting God's alternative provision. This acceptance brought him extraordinary peace and increased grace. When we joyfully accept God's responses to our prayers, even when different from our expectations, we position ourselves to receive multiplied grace and the covenant of peace.

Remembering Divine Preservation (தெய்வீக பாதுகாப்பை நினைவுகூர்தல்)

The book of Lamentations provides profound insight into recognizing God's sustaining grace:

"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." — Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV)

Every believer has faced circumstances that could have led to complete destruction - in travels, families, ministries, or personal situations. Yet we stand today because of God's preserving grace. When we reflect with gratitude on how the Lord prevented our destruction (நிர்மூலமாகாமல் காத்தார்), our recognition of His faithfulness causes grace and peace to multiply in our experience.

Remembering Dark Days (இருளின் நாட்களை நினைவுகூர்தல்)

"If a man lives many years and rejoices in them all, yet let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many." — Ecclesiastes 11:8a (NKJV)

"மனுஷன் அநேக வருஷம் ஜீவித்து, அவைகளில் எல்லாம் மகிழ்ச்சியாய் இருந்தாலும், இருளின் நாட்களையும் நினைக்கவேண்டும்." — பிரசங்கி 11:8a (TAOVBSI)

The "days of darkness" (இருளின் நாட்கள்) refer to those times when destruction seemed imminent. Deliberately remembering these seasons and acknowledging God's preservation during them generates deep gratitude that multiplies grace in our present experience.

To cultivate increased grace and peace in our lives:

1. Engage in corporate worship and praise - Join with many believers in thanksgiving, as grace multiplies through collective praise
2. Practice humble prayer - Approach God with the attitude "தேவனே, பாவியாகிய என்மேல் கிருபையாயிரும்" (God, be merciful to me a sinner)
3. Accept God's responses - Receive His answers to prayer with joy, even when they differ from our expectations
4. Remember His faithfulness - Regularly reflect on how God has prevented destruction in your life and express gratitude
