Who Has Bewitched You?

Introduction (அறிமுகம்)

"O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?" — Galatians 3:1 (NKJV)

"புத்தியில்லாத கலாத்தியரே, நீங்கள் சத்தியத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாமற்போகத்தக்கதாக உங்களை மயக்கினவன் யார்? இயேசுகிறிஸ்து சிலுவையிலறையப்பட்டவராக உங்கள் கண்களுக்குமுன் பிரத்தியட்சமாய் உங்களுக்குள்ளே வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டிருந்தாரே." — கலாத்தியர் 3:1 (TAOVBSI)

Paul is astonished. The Galatians had received the gospel of grace, experienced the Holy Spirit, and witnessed God's power. Yet they were turning back to a system of rules and rituals as if Christ's sacrifice were not enough.

What Bewitched Them? (அவர்களை மயக்கியது என்ன?)

The Galatians were being influenced by false teachers who insisted that faith in Christ was not sufficient -- they also needed to follow the Law of Moses (circumcision, dietary laws, etc.) to be truly saved.

This was not adding to grace; it was replacing it.

The Danger of Legalism (நியாயப்பிரமாணவாதத்தின் ஆபத்து)

Legalism is the belief that our performance earns God's acceptance. It creeps into our faith subtly:

• "God will love me more if I do this..."
• "I must earn my way back into His favour..."
• "If I keep enough rules, I'll be spiritual..."

Paul calls this foolishness because:

1. We received the Spirit by faith, not works (Galatians 3:2)
2. We were made complete by grace, not law (Galatians 3:3)
3. God works miracles among us through faith (Galatians 3:5)

Freedom in Christ (கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள் சுதந்திரம்)

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." — Galatians 5:1 (NKJV)

"ஆனபடியினாலே, நீங்கள் மறுபடியும் அடிமைத்தனத்தின் நுகத்துக்குட்படாமல், கிறிஸ்து நமக்கு உண்டாக்கின சுயாதீன நிலைமையிலே நிலைகொண்டிருங்கள்." — கலாத்தியர் 5:1 (TAOVBSI)

"For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." — Romans 6:14 (NKJV)

"நீங்கள் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்குக் கீழ்பட்டிராமல் கிருபைக்குக் கீழ்பட்டிருக்கிறபடியால், பாவம் உங்களை மேற்கொள்ளமாட்டாது." — ரோமர் 6:14 (TAOVBSI)

Grace does not mean we live carelessly. Grace empowers us to live righteously -- not out of fear, but out of love.

Application (செயல்படுத்துதல்)

• Examine your spiritual life: Are you trying to earn what God has freely given?
• Have you been "bewitched" by voices that add conditions to God's grace?
• Rest in the finished work of Christ. You are accepted not because of what you do, but because of what He has done.
