Transforming Lives: Our Vision and Mission
As a church, we are called to know who we are and where we are going. Today we look at the vision and mission God has given Good Samaritan Mission — a calling that has been refined over decades of faithful ministry.
The Foundational Vision
Our founder, D.R. Sobana, was inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan — to provide help both spiritually and physically. The original trust objectives, established in 2001, were clear: to preach the Gospel, support pastors and evangelists, care for orphans, widows, and the elderly, provide education and vocational training, and carry out relief work among those in need.
This foundational calling has never changed. It has only deepened.
Our Vision
Transforming lives through the love of Christ, embracing both spiritual nurture and practical charity to fulfill God's command to love our neighbors as ourselves.
"The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." — Matthew 22:39
"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." — Matthew 25:40
We strive to be a living example of Jesus' teaching. We are called not only to gather on Sundays, but to equip families, disciple believers, care for the sick, uplift the poor, and bring the Gospel to every home.
Our Mission
To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrate His love through comprehensive community support and development. Our mission encompasses:
- Discipleship — Equipping believers to know His will, walk worthy of the Lord, and be fruitful in every good work (Colossians 1:9-11)
- Mercy Ministries — Compassionate care for the sick, elderly, and vulnerable
- Community Transformation — Education, healthcare, social services, and empowerment
We walk in obedience to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) and the call to show mercy (Micah 6:8).
Faith and Deeds Together
Our vision is not just spiritual — it is practical. Scripture is clear:
"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?" — James 2:14
"Let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth." — 1 John 3:17-18
Faith without action is dead. Love without works is incomplete. Our church exists to demonstrate that the Gospel transforms not just hearts, but communities — not just Sundays, but every day of the week.
The Call
This vision cannot be fulfilled by one person or one family. It requires all of us — as one Body in Christ. Some are called to pray, some to serve, some to give, some to lead. Whatever your part, the Lord needs you.
"Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power." — Psalm 110:3
As we dedicate ourselves to this vision, let us be a church that learns, grows, and presses on together. Not only worshiping, but also working. Not only believing, but also serving. Not only starting, but enduring until the end.
"Here I am, I have come to do Your will, O God." — Hebrews 10:7
