The Power of the Seed
Introduction (அறிமுகம்)
Have you ever held a seed in your hand and thought about the hidden potential inside it? A single seed is small, unimpressive, and often ignored. But when planted in the right soil, nourished with care, and given time -- it can become a tree, a crop, a whole harvest.
In Matthew 13, Jesus speaks of the Word of God as a seed. And like every seed, it has power -- but that power is unlocked only when the seed is received, protected, and allowed to grow.
The Seed Is Divine and Powerful
"Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever." — 1 Peter 1:23 (NKJV)
The seed represents the Word of God -- alive, incorruptible, and containing God's very nature. It has the power to save, transform, and bring fruit, but only if it is sown and received properly. Like a natural seed, it carries everything needed to reproduce God's life in us.
The Soil Determines the Outcome
"But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." — Matthew 13:23 (NKJV)
Jesus described four types of soil in the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:19-23):
- Hard hearts reject the Word -- Satan steals it before it takes root.
- Shallow hearts receive it with joy but give up when trials come.
- Thorny hearts are distracted by worries, riches, and pleasures.
- Good soil hears, understands, perseveres, and produces fruit.
The heart is the soil. The seed never changes -- only the soil does.
Growth Is God's Work, but Fruit Is Our Responsibility
"First the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head." — Mark 4:28 (NKJV)
Growth is progressive -- blade, head, full grain. Our part is to sow faithfully, guard the soil, and obey the Word. God's part is to give the increase. The fruit of the Word is seen in transformed character, obedience, and spiritual maturity.
"By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples." — John 15:8 (NKJV)
The Chinese Bamboo Tree
When this seed is planted, nothing seems to happen in the first year. Or the second, or even the third and fourth. You water it, nurture it, protect it -- but there is no visible growth. Then suddenly, in the fifth year, it shoots up to over eighty feet tall in just six weeks.
Did it grow in six weeks or five years? Five years. During those unseen years, the root system was growing deep, wide, and strong. Without that hidden growth, the plant could never support its full height.
The Word of God is just like that seed. You may not see immediate change. But if you keep receiving it, trusting it, and obeying it -- it will take root, and one day your life will shoot up in strength, maturity, and fruitfulness.
Application (செயல்படுத்துதல்)
- The Word of God is not information -- it is a seed with eternal power.
- Your heart condition determines whether it produces life or is stolen away.
- Give it space, time, and obedience, and you will bear fruit -- thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.
- Is your heart ready for the seed? Break up the hard ground, clear away the thorns, and receive God's Word afresh today.
