The Church in Focus: Doing All Things in Love

Introduction (அறிமுகம்)

Paul continually reminded the Corinthian church that their gifts, gatherings, and ministries must glorify Christ -- not themselves. The church is not an institution built by human effort; it is the body of Christ, and He alone is its head.

"And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all." — Ephesians 1:22-23 (NKJV)

The Purpose of the Church (சபையின் நோக்கம்)

The church exists for two purposes:

  1. To glorify Christ as His body (Ephesians 1:22-23) -- The church is the fullness and expression of Christ on earth.
  2. To witness Christ to the world (Matthew 28:18-20) -- Jesus commissioned His church to make disciples of all nations.

The Role of Believers and Ministers (விசுவாசிகளின் மற்றும் ஊழியர்களின் பங்கு)

"There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord." — 1 Corinthians 12:4-5 (NKJV)

Every believer has a role -- no one is unimportant. Ministers are not masters but stewards (1 Corinthians 4:1-2). All must operate in love -- no selfishness, envy, or comparison.

The Corinthian church had divisions over leaders (1 Corinthians 1:12), misuse of gifts (1 Corinthians 14), and lack of love in communion (1 Corinthians 11). Paul did not just rebuke -- he corrected in love and pointed them to unity in Christ.

Aligning Ourselves to God's Purpose (கடவுளின் நோக்கத்திற்கு நம்மை ஒருங்கிணைத்தல்)

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal." — 1 Corinthians 13:1 (NKJV)

Three essential alignments for the church:

  1. Submit to Christ as Head (Colossians 1:18) -- He must have pre-eminence in all things.
  2. Practice love in all things (1 Corinthians 13:1-3) -- Without love, even prophecy, faith, and sacrifice are meaningless.
  3. Pursue unity, not division (Ephesians 4:2-3) -- With all lowliness, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in love, keeping the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Paul closes 1 Corinthians with a clear reminder:

"Let all that you do be done with love." — 1 Corinthians 16:14 (NKJV)

Application (செயல்படுத்துதல்)

  • Love is not emotion, words, or works alone -- it is the essence of God's nature.
  • Love is the greatest because it fulfils faith and hope and lasts forever.
  • Is love truly the foundation of everything you do in this church?
  • Recommit to serving in the church not out of duty or ambition, but out of love for Christ and His body.
