Stay Salty, Shine Bright

Introduction (அறிமுகம்)

"You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world." — Matthew 5:13-14 (NKJV)

Every believer is called to influence the world by preserving truth and revealing Christ. Salt is rarely noticed when it is there, but the moment it is missing, everyone notices. Jesus says you are the salt of the earth -- your presence makes life better, and without you, the world feels the loss.

Preserve the World's Flavour -- Stay Salty (உலகின் சுவையைக் காப்பாற்றுங்கள் -- உப்பாயிருங்கள்)

Salt has multiple roles in Scripture:

• Preserves -- "With all your offerings you shall offer salt" (Leviticus 2:13). Salt keeps corruption from spreading.
• Flavours -- "Can flavourless food be eaten without salt?" (Job 6:6). Salt makes life attractive through Christ-like living.
• Heals -- Elisha used salt to purify water (2 Kings 2:20-21). Salt brings healing to brokenness.

How We Lose Saltiness (உப்பின் சாரம் எப்படி போகிறது)

• Mixing too much with the world's patterns -- "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2).
• Being spiritually idle and corroded by sin.
• Letting our speech lose its grace -- "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt" (Colossians 4:6).

Shine in the Darkness -- Be Visible (இருளில் பிரகாசியுங்கள் -- காணப்படுங்கள்)

"A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." — Matthew 5:14 (NKJV)

Light's purpose in Scripture:

• To be seen -- A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
• To guide others -- "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105).
• To expose darkness -- "Everyone practising evil hates the light... but he who does the truth comes to the light" (John 3:20-21).

God positions you to shine -- in your workplace, your family, your ministry. No one lights a lamp to hide it. If you hide your light, you are denying your calling. Live so openly for Christ that people cannot help but notice His work in you.

Glorify the Father -- Point It Upwards (பிதாவை மகிமைப்படுத்துங்கள் -- மேலே நோக்குங்கள்)

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." — Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)

Good works are not for our fame but for God's glory. Our lives are a signpost, not a spotlight -- always pointing to the Father.

"Having your conduct honourable among the Gentiles, that... by your good works which they observe, they may glorify God in the day of visitation." — 1 Peter 2:12 (NKJV)

Application (செயல்படுத்துதல்)

Salt without flavour is thrown away; light under a basket is useless. Jesus did not say "try to be" salt and light -- He said, "You are." That is our identity. Now it is our responsibility to live it out.

• Am I preserving truth and purity in my environment?
• Is my light visible to those around me, or am I hiding it?
• Do my works glorify God or just make me look good?
