Introduction (அறிமுகம்)

Great falls rarely happen overnight. They begin with a slight shift -- a small compromise, a minor neglect, a quiet step sideways. Over time, that small shift becomes a major departure.

"Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away." — Hebrews 2:1 (NKJV)

The word "drift" is key. Drifting is unintentional. No one plans to drift. But without vigilance, it happens.

How the Shift Begins

1. Neglecting the Basics (அடிப்படைகளை புறக்கணித்தல்)

When prayer becomes occasional, Bible reading becomes irregular, and church attendance becomes optional -- the drift has begun.

2. Tolerating Small Sins (சிறிய பாவங்களைச் சகித்தல்)

What we tolerate today, we embrace tomorrow. Small compromises -- a careless word, a dishonest act, a lingering look -- seem harmless but erode our spiritual foundation.

3. Listening to the Wrong Voices

The company we keep, the media we consume, and the advice we follow shapes our direction. Wrong input leads to wrong output.

4. Losing Accountability (பொறுப்புணர்வை இழத்தல்)

When we pull away from spiritual community and resist correction, we remove the guardrails God has put in place.

Biblical Warnings (வேதாகம எச்சரிக்கைகள்)

"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life." — Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV)

"Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall." — 1 Corinthians 10:12 (NKJV)

Solomon is a powerful example. The wisest man who ever lived drifted because of small compromises in his relationships, and his heart turned away from God (1 Kings 11:4).

How to Prevent the Drift

  1. Stay anchored in God's Word daily. Not as a ritual, but as a lifeline.
  2. Maintain honest relationships. People who will tell you the truth.
  3. Deal with sin immediately. Do not let it fester.
  4. Guard your heart. Be intentional about what you allow in.

Application (செயல்படுத்துதல்)

  • Is there a small shift in your life right now that you have been ignoring?
  • Where have you begun to drift without realizing it?
  • Course-correct today before the small shift becomes a major fall.
