Running the Race with Endurance
பொறுமையுடன் ஓட்டத்தை ஓடுதல்
1. Looking Ahead (முன்னோக்கிப் பார்த்தல்) — Hebrews 12:1-3
- Strip off every unnecessary weight — emotional baggage, distractions, and worries.
- Let go of sin that entangles, especially habitual sin that hinders spiritual progress.
- Run with endurance — not sprinting, but a steady race requiring perseverance.
- Fix your eyes on Jesus — He is both the origin and perfecter of your faith.
- Compare your trials to His — so you don't grow weary or lose heart.
Prayer: "Lord, help me to let go of distractions and sin. Teach me to run this race with endurance, with my eyes fixed on You."
2. Willing to Submit (கீழ்ப்படிய ஆயத்தம்) — Hebrews 12:4-11
- Acknowledge: Our struggle against sin has not yet cost us our blood (v.4).
- Jesus suffered more than we ever will — He is our model.
- Recognise we are sons and daughters, not outsiders.
- Accept discipline as a sign of love, not punishment.
- Yield to the Father of spirits, not just earthly parents.
- Discipline yields righteousness and peace to those trained by it.
Prayer: "Father, help me embrace Your discipline, knowing I am Your child. Let it bear the peaceful fruit of righteousness in my life."
3. Work as a Team (குழுவாகச் செயல்படுதல்) — Hebrews 12:12-14
- Strengthen weak hands and feeble knees — help the weary.
- Be community-minded: pursue peace with everyone.
- Sanctification is a shared journey — encourage each other.
Prayer: "Lord, use me to strengthen those around me. Teach me to pursue peace and help others walk in holiness."
4. Do Not Be Spiritually Complacent (ஆவிக்குரிய அலட்சியமின்மை) — Hebrews 12:15-17
Complacency: feeling too satisfied with yourself or with a situation, so that you think there is no need to worry.
- Be vigilant — bitterness and resentment can take root.
- These things defile and divide the body of Christ.
- Avoid being like Esau: short-sighted, impulsive, regretful.
Prayer: "God, cleanse me from hidden bitterness. Keep me alert and holy, not complacent or careless with my spiritual inheritance."
5. Do Not Refuse to Listen (கேட்க மறுக்காதீர்கள்) — Hebrews 12:25-27
- God spoke from Sinai, and people trembled.
- Now, He speaks from heaven — through Jesus and the Spirit.
- Do not turn your back on Him who speaks.
- Everything shakable will be shaken — only what is eternal will remain.
Prayer: "Help me hear Your voice clearly, Lord. Let me not ignore Your warnings or delay my obedience."
6. Show Gratitude (நன்றியுள்ளவர்களாயிருங்கள்) — Hebrews 12:22-24, 28
- We belong to Mount Zion — the heavenly Jerusalem.
- We are part of a glorious, spiritual city with angels and saints.
- We are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.
- Our worship should reflect this privilege — with reverence and awe.
Prayer: "Thank You, Lord, for including me in Your eternal Kingdom. Let my heart overflow with gratitude and awe."
7. Consuming Fire (பட்சிக்கிற அக்கினி) — Hebrews 12:29
- God is jealous and holy, demanding what is rightfully His.
- His holiness is purifying, not merely terrifying.
Prayer: "Father, purify me with Your holy fire. Burn away all that displeases You and make me wholly Yours."
